Week One - Theme Songs
Calling Audio Blood: Everyone has a "theme song." Something that when you hear it you think, "That's me. That's who I am. That's what I stand for." The theme song for this blog is "Audio Blood" and it's linked above. Send us your theme songs. If you care to, tell us why that song IS you. We'll start posting our favs on Wednesday.

Bigger Than My Body - John Mayer
"I've been grounded, got my wings clipped,
I'm surrounded by all this pavement.
Guess I'll circle for a while,
waiting for my fuse to dry."
Man, if that hasn't been my theme song since it was released. Come to think of it, it was exactly when this song was released that my life got that way! Thanks for nothin', John, other than a great song with cursed lyrics!
"So Far Away" - Staind

This is my life
Its not what it was before
All these feelings I’ve shared
And these are my dreams
That I’d never lived before
Somebody shake me
Cause I, I must be sleeping
(chorus)
Now that we're here,
It's so far away
All the struggle we thought was in vain
All the mistakes,
One life contained
They all finally start to go away
Now that we're here its so far away
And I feel like I can face the day
I can forgive and I’m not ashamed to be the person that I am today
These are my words
That I’ve never said before
I think I’m doing ok
And this is the smile
That I’ve never shown before
Somebody shake me
Cause I, I must be sleeping
(chorus)
I'm so afraid of waking
Please don't shake me
Afraid of waking
Please don't shake me
(chorus)

Okay, so my life isn't THIS dismal, as it seems that the protagonist is about two steps away from ending it all, but the general concept is there. What the fcuk happened? How the hell did I get HERE, to this place?
I especially like this line:
"I can forgive and I’m not ashamed to be the person that I am today"
Although I thought that it was "I can't believe that I'm not ashamed to be the person that I am today."
I'd rather have a more positive theme, but then, when things are more positive I'll switch back to "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves (NOT!) Truthfully, I am a much more optimistic person, but times like these call for theme songs like this.
Audio Blood - The Matches

(This is a live version, a very good rendition, but I'd love to find an album version on YouTube.)
This was posted on this blog as the them of the blog, but it is the theme of my life and of all of us who LIVE and LOVE music. It's hard for those of us who have music infused into our lives, as integral as eating and sleeping, to realize that many people, possibly the majority of people, don't even care about any kind of music. I can't stand Rap or Country, but at least I can identify with a fan of those types of music as being a significant part of their life.
Read the lyrics!!!
Every friday at three
shadows escape from the factory.
If you can go to the show,
hurry up and get back to me.
Tonight we meet underground
where the air is thick like mud,
and the bands make noise
that we call audio blood.
Every weekend we're igniting
like chemical fires.
Youth centers fill with teens.
They fill with vampires.
Sweating in the dark we're freed
as the weight of the week
falls away with a thud.
Sweating in the dark we feed
on the forms in the light;
on the floor we're the flood.
We bleed, we bleed, we bleed
Audio blood.
And all through the week,
whispers follow the shadows down the halls.
Our handstamps fade,
and I cringe at the stupid names we're called.
Every weekend we are massing,
seeking sonic escape.
The shadows flood the floor
and start to take shape.
This is how we bleed in audio...
let down your skin,
let the wind blow through your veins.
Well said.
